Emergency Medical Technology Certificate 1-Semester Plan

Techniques of pre-hospital emergency medical care for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). This certificate prepares the student for the industry certification exam (NREMT). EMT certification is a prerequisite for EMS 262.
Prerequisites
- Current BLS Provider level CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- Verification that a student has prificiency in reading at the 9th grade level - multiple measures are employed to verify this requirement.
- Students must be at least 18 years olf by the end of the course to be eligible to take the industry certification exam.

| Milestones |
- Students must achieve an overall score of 80% and complete all course assignments (section exams, weekly quizzes, and out of class assignments).
- Students cannot miss more than 15 hours of scheduled class time during the semester.
- Students must pass all components of the course psychomotor exam.
- Students must achieve a minimum score of 75% on the final exam.
