ART 221 - Art of the Southwest Credits: 3 Lab/Lecture: Three lecture.
A historical survey of painting, sculpture, and architecture in the southwestern region of the United States from pre-historic time to the present. Course Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- discuss the history of art and architecture of the southwestern region of the United States in the context of social, cultural, and economic changes in the region;
- analyze and evaluate significant historical trends that influenced the arts in a given period;
- discuss and evaluate the artistic heritage and contribution of diverse ethnic and racial groups;
- analyze and discuss the relationship between a cultures art and architecture and their cultural and social values;
- identify specific works of art and the work of prominent artists;
- students will research aspects of art and architecture of the region.
Prerequisite(s): ENG 101 . General Education: Art/Humanities. Special Requirement(s): Contemporary Global/International Awareness or Historical Awareness; Ethnic/Race/Gender Awareness.
