AJS 230 - Deviant Behavior Credits: 3 Lecture: Three lecture. Examines the basic concepts of deviant behavior; evaluates current literature and studies the application of current criminological theories related to patterns of deviance.
Course Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the nature of deviance, its descriptors, measures and criminality;
- explain the issues of deviant behaviors, both in the United States and within other countries/cultures;
- research and compile a comprehensive research project which details a specific facet of deviant behavior, its effects on society and consequences of such behaviors;
- explain the relationship between deviant behaviors, real or perceived, and any crime which may occur as a result of those behaviors.
