AHS 131 - Medical Terminology I

Lecture: Three lecture.
Medical vocabulary for beginning students in allied health and science fields. Includes word roots, prefixes, suffixes, and abbreviations. Emphasizes spelling, pronunciation, and definition.
Course Outcomes:
Students will be able to:
- differentiate prefixes, suffixes, word roots, and combining forms;
- define a list of medical terms;
- build and define medical terms using word building rules and word elements;
- pronounce medical terms correctly;
- spell medical terms correctly.
Prerequisite(s): ENG 098, or placement into ENG 101/101A.
