ABO 204 - Advanced Refinishing Fundamentals

An advanced course in vehicle refinishing and reassembly.  This course includes spray equipment setup, vehicle prep and tape, paint correction with cut and buffing, scratch repair and proper blending techniques, knowledge of toners and paint mixing.

Course Outcomes:
Students will be able to:
 

1.  apply specialized methods to properly clean, sand, and condition various surfaces for optimal coating adhesion;

2.  identify appropriate refinishing materials for different substrates and environmental conditions, and apply them using advanced techniques;

3.  diagnose and resolve defects such as runs, sags, orange peel, and adhesion failures to ensure a flawless finish;

4.  operate spray guns, polishing tools, and other refinishing equipment with precision and efficiency;

5.  adhere to industry regulations and guidelines to ensure safe handling of materials and minimize environmental impact;

6.  assess refinished surfaces for defects and apply corrective actions to meet professional standards;

7.  develop the skills and confidence necessary to pursue advanced career opportunities in the refinishing industry.
