ECE 210 - Creative Arts for the Young Child Credits: 3 Lecture: Three lecture. Evaluating and designing developmentally appropriate activities for the young child. Emphasis given to visual arts, dramatic play, creative music and movement, exploration and discovery.
Course Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- define creative arts and design a learning environment for creative arts;
- identify theoretical perspectives of child development and utilize these theories in case studies;
- summarize the affective domain of development in the young child;
- define and evaluate the teacher’s role in the creative arts;
- design a developmentally appropriate activity;
- specify the key elements of the process approach to the creative arts;
- relate divergent thinking with the process approach to learning.
