An introduction to essential theories of human communication and how they work in various settings, including interpersonal, social influence, group and organizational, mass communication, and cultural contexts.
Course Outcomes:
Students will be able to:
- Recognize and analyze the influence of messages in a wide variety of personal and professional situations.
- Describe significant communication theories.
- Explain different approaches to communication theory and their relevance in varied contexts.
- Apply communication theories to real-life situations to accomplish personal and professional communicative goals.
- Articulate concepts of communication theories in mediated and non-mediated messages.
