LET 154 - Firearms III/Long Weapons Credits: 1 Lecture: 1 Lecture. Familiarization with different types of long weapons and associated ammunition. Emphasis on safety techniques for use and storage of weapons. Limited use of range for practice.
Course Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- describe the moral and legal issues behind the use of a long weapon in a vehicle;
- explain the safety factors for transporting a long weapon in a vehicle;
- critique major methods for storing long weapons in the home;
- identify the major components of a shotgun and a rifle;
- describe the difference between shotguns and rifles and their ammunition;
- describe the different types of sights and actions found in both shotguns and rifles;
- demonstrate proficiency in the safe handling and operation of a shotgun and a rifle.
Prerequisite(s): A grade of C or better in LET 151 or equivalent certified firearms training as reviewed by the Department.
