AIT 260 - Manufacturing Mechanics

Fundamental principles of the application, installation, lubrication, and maintenance of plain, ball and roller bearings. Includes an exploration of gaskets and seals, gear drives, brakes and clutches, linear ball brushings, and ball screw drives.
Course Outcomes:
Students will be able to:
- demonstrate safe practices when working with mechanical drives and other mechanical systems;
- differentiate between and perform installation and maintenance of various types of bearings, brakes, clutches, gaskets and seals;
- properly select, install, and maintain gear drives. Install and maintain ball bushings and ball screws.
