ABO 104 - Introduction to Automotive Refinishing

An introduction to basic refinishing skills with dual and single stage paints. This course includes spray equipment setup, panel prep and tape, paint correction with cut and buffing, scratch repair and proper blending techniques, basic knowledge of toners and paint mixing.
Course Outcomes:
Students will be able to:
- describe the fundamentals of automotive refinishing processes and materials;
- identify and use refinishing tools and equipment safely;
- demonstrate surface preparation techniques;
- apply primers, paints, and clear coats effectively;
- recognize common refinishing defects and solutions;
- follow safety protocols and environmental regulations.
