AUT 120 - Brake Systems Credits: 3 Lab/Lecture: One lecture. Three lab.
A study of braking systems used on light duty, medium duty, and hybrid vehicles with an overview of heavy duty (air) brakes. This will include theory, operation, construction, maintenance, testing, diagnosis and repair of drum brakes, disc brakes, antilock brakes, hydraulic brakes, electronic brake controls, and regenerative braking systems. Course Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- demonstrate the fundamental understanding of the construction, operation, service and repair of all types of automotive braking systems;
- demonstrate an understanding of the safety rules that should be followed when servicing brake systems.
Pre/Corequisite(s): AUT 100 . Grading Option: May be taken for S/U credit.
