ENG 238 - Literature of the Southwest Credits: 3 Lab/Lecture: Three lecture.
Literature of the land and peoples of the Southwest, including the Colorado Plateau as a distinctive geographic region; the influence and interaction of Native American, Chicano, and Anglo cultures, and contemporary concerns of Southwestern writers. Course Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- analyze rhetorical, historical , and cultural aspects of the works;
- examine contemporary concerns and trends of the works;
- identify and explain literary techniques;
- interpret literature, explaining relationships between form and content;
- and explore philosophies, values, background that influenced Southwestern authors.
Prerequisite(s): ENG 101 General Education: Arts/Humanities. Special Requirement(s): Ethnic/Race/Gender Awareness.
