MAT 220 - Calculus and Analytic Geometry I Credits: 5 Lab/Lecture: Five lecture.
Limits, continuity, differential, and integral operations on algebraic and trigonometric functions and applications. Course Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- review pre-calculus topics including solving and graphing polynomial, rational, logarithmic, exponential, and trigonometric functions;
- interpret and solve growth and decay application problems;
- analyze and evaluate limits;
- analyze and interpret the concept of continuity of functions;
- analyze the concept of the derivative verbally, numerically, and analytically;
- calculate derivatives of polynomial, rational, logarithmic, exponential, and trigonometric functions;
- calculate derivatives of the products, ratios, and composition of functions;
- interpret and solve applied problems using the derivative;
- analyze, interpret, and apply the Mean Value Theorem;
- define and evaluate right and left hand Reiman sums;
- analyze the concept of the integral verbally, numerically, graphically, and analytically;
- calculate integrals of basic polynomial, rational, logarithmic, exponential, and trigonometric functions;
- calculate integrals of basic products, ratios, and composite functions using substitution.
Prerequisite(s): MAT 187 or placement. General Education: Mathematics.
