POS 120 - Introduction to World Politics Credits: 3 Lab/Lecture: Three lecture.
Introduction to the international system, its actors and their capabilities; international political economy; ends and means of foreign policy; international cooperation, tension, and conflict. Course Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- describe and interpret the nature of the international political system and its actors;
- describe, explain, and interpret and compare the major theories of international relations;
- identify and explain the concepts of the nation-state, national interests and national power;
- describe the structure of international political economy and compare and contrast the strategies undertaken by nation-states therein;
- describe and interpret the nature of and interests involved in foreign policy;
- explain the evolution of cooperation and conflict in international relations.
General Education: Social/Behavioral Sciences. Special Requirement(s): Contemporary Global/International Awareness or Historical Awareness.
