Fire Science Wildfire Suppression Certificate

The Wildfire Suppression Certificate program is designed to introduce basic skills and to assist those who desire to gain employment as a wildland fire fighter. Included in the curriculum are cognitive and practical applications and knowledge. Students may apply a limited amount of credit hours earned in this program toward the Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Science.

Program Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to: - meet NWCG requirements, except Work Capacity Test and agency sponsorship, to quality as Fire Fighter Type II;
- explain the components and demonstrate use of the National Incident Management System;
- develop necessary skills to effectively respond to and function at wildland fires;
- develop necessary skills to identify and protect wildland fire origin.
