Arizona General Education Certificate

A completed Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) provides students with a foundation of general education courses that will transfer as a block to fulfill all lower-division general education requirements at the three Arizona public universities. 

Key benefits

  • Block transfer: All credits in a completed AGEC will transfer to the partner universities as a complete block. No need to wonder if a specific general education course will transfer.
  • Guaranteed admission: Completing the 32 credit hours of the AGEC with grades of C or better and a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher guarantees admission to NAU, ASU, and UA.
  • University-specific requirements: In consultation with an advisor, students can select courses that align with the major requirements at their intended transfer university.

Program Outcomes


Our General Education Curriculum consists of courses in a variety of disciplines with learning outcomes that align to our Institutional Learning Outcomes  (ILOs). Students who complete the AGEC at CCC will learn: 

Critical and Creative Thinking: Students will use inquiry methods, resources, or reasoning skills to think critically or creatively.

Communication Skills: Students will express and exchange ideas to increase knowledge and foster understanding.

Global Awareness: Students will recognize a variety of cultures, values, beliefs, or historical perspectives.

Ethical and Civic Values: Students will demonstrate an understanding of individual and societal responsibilities, needs, or values.

General Education: 32 credits


All general education coursework must be selected from the approved AGEC list.
