BIO 160 - Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology Credits: 4 Lab/Lecture: Three lecture. Three lab.
The study of the structure and function of the human body. It is designed for students who want a one semester course in anatomy and physiology and those pursuing certificates in the allied health sciences; students majoring in the sciences or preparing for professional health science careers should enroll in the BIO 201 /BIO 202 sequence. Course Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- relate the structural organization of the body;
- discuss homeostasis and homeostatic control mechanisms and what arises when homeostasis is not maintained;
- analyze specific chemical concepts as they pertain to the body;
- and describe structure and function of the: integumentary system and body membrane, skeletal system and joints, muscular system, nervous system, endocrine system, cardiovascular system, lymphatic system and immunity, respiratory system, digestive system, urinary system, and reproductive system.
General Education: Physical and Biological Sciences.
