EDU 248 - Intermediate Community College Teaching Credits: 1 Lab/Lecture: One lecture.
Explore development and purpose of the community college in the United States including current practices and issues with a particular focus on The Learning College. A methods course that focuses on student advisement and course articulation, assessment at both the course and program level, and technical expertise in the classroom. Course Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- express the current accepted mission and philosophy of the community college as well as justify their own interpretations of the philosophy;
- explain the purpose of the academic programs and student services as offered by community colleges as they relate to the college mission;
- examine the Articulation and Transfer System of Arizona and basic advising principles;
- describe the characteristics of the community college student clientele including demographics of age, gender, ethnicity, and level of preparation for college;
- and demonstrate understanding of course and program level assessment procedures.
