HRM 220 - Property Management Credits: 3 Lab/Lecture: Three lecture.
Introduction to the direction and control of housekeeping operations, personnel and facilities management, problem solving techniques, and guest security and safety. Course Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- identify staffing needs for housekeeping department;
- develop an organizational chart for the housekeeping department;
- analyze supply needs and identify the steps in the procurement process;
- develop a plan for the administration and distribution of supplies;
- list the principles of linen room management;
- analyze guest problem scenarios and synthesize possible solutions;
- evaluate employee and guest environment in terms of safety;
- implement interior design techniques for guest satisfaction;
- create a full circle management plan;
- identify requirements for MSDS and OSHA;
- identify daily routines and subroutines for housekeeping;
- define procedures for opening the house;
- evaluate housekeeping inventories;
- determine proper procedures for controlling housekeeping expenses;
- differentiate physical plant operations;
- evaluate the various plant operations as the pertain to electrical and HVAC systems;
- identify safety issues pertaining to water and wastewater management.
