COM 200 - Basic Communication Theory

An introduction to essential theories of human communication and how they work in various settings, including interpersonal, organizational, public, and mediated contexts.
Course Outcomes:
Students will be able to:
- recognize and analyze the influence of messages in a wide variety of personal and professional situations;
- describe significant communication theories;
- explain different approaches to communication theory and their relevance in varied contexts;
- apply communication theories to real-life situations to accomplish personal and professional communicative goals;
- articulate concepts of communication theories in mediated and non-mediated messages.
