This program is designed to prepare students to enter the workforce in the criminal justice arena. This program provides students with specific knowledge and skills, which will assist in securing employment in a wide variety of law enforcement and corrections/juvenile detention positions.
Note: This occupational program is not intended for transfer to a 4-year institution.

Program Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will:
- Understand the structure of the criminal justice system and the functions of its’ main constituents: official agencies, citizens, and their elected representatives.
- Acquire the major communication skills required of most criminal justice practitioners including the development of effective written and oral communications consistent with the criminal justice field.
- Use knowledge of other cultures, politics, ethics, and human rights to positively impact the community, work place, and the physical environment around us.
- Know the resources to investigate careers within the criminal justice system.
- Have the skills necessary to enter the criminal justice workforce with specialized training in such areas as detention/corrections officer or emergency communications dispatcher.
General Education: 29 credits
All general education coursework must be selected from the approved AGEC list.
