CAREER SERVICES

Coconino Community College Career Services provides students with assistance in career/major exploration, resume building, interviewing skills, job search strategies, and job application assistance. As a CCC student, you can register with Pipeline AZ to explore career paths in high demand industries, learn about skills and training programs, and find jobs from Arizona employers that are currently hiring. Internships

Internships can be a great part of each student’s experience at CCC. Some programs have internships built into the program of study. If you want more information about these choices, please contact the dean who oversees your academic program of interest.

CARE PROGRAM

The CARE program provides faculty and staff with resources and trainings to support students and colleagues. CARE enables employees and students to report behaviors that may raise a concern about a student and/or employee behavior as well as incidents of misconduct. CARE also allows employees and students to notify Student Services and Human Resources of individuals who may need assistance with support services and behavioral health resources. CCC2UNIVERSITY

Your education is one of the best investments you can make. CCC’s experienced instructors, excellent student-to-teacher ratios, and wide selection of associate degree programs can give you an excellent start toward your four-year degree at a fraction of the cost.

Once you have earned your degree with us, you can transfer to a four-year university through one of our transfer programs and partnerships. CCC has academic partnerships with Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University, the University of Arizona and Grand Canyon University.

If you are planning to transfer to a four-year university after CCC, you are required to meet with a transfer advisor early in your program so that the advisor can work with you to develop a timeline and coursework outline to facilitate your transfer. CCC is committed to providing college-wide educational support and assistance for students with documented disabilities. Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act requires that all CCC College programs, services, and facilities be accessible to individuals with disabilities except where the action necessary to achieve accessibility would result in a fundamental alteration of the program or would impose an undue burden. Disability Resources works closely with other college departments and community agencies to enhance and support your educational choices. All efforts will be made to promote independence and the highest extent of integration into our learning community.

An individual with a disability is an individual with a documented impairment that substantially limits one or more of that individual’s major life activities. Recognized disabilities include, but are not limited to, mobility impairments, deafness, hard of hearing, blindness, visual impairments, learning disabilities, chronic medical conditions, and psychological disorders.

Services are available for all CCC students who provide the required documentation and meet eligibility standards. Accommodations are established on an individual basis through an interactive process and are tailored to the needs of each student.

If students have a documented disability, they can arrange for accommodations by contacting the office of Disability Resources (DR). Students are encouraged to bring/send in documentation and meet with DR staff as soon as possible upon registering as a CCC student. Upon receipt of appropriate documentation, determination of eligibility as a student with a disability may take up to four weeks. A student may initiate this process at any time. FINANCIAL AID, SCHOLARSHIPS, AND VETERAN’S SERVICES

CCC offers a variety of financial aid and scholarships to full and part-time students. Financial aid includes the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Work Study (FWS), Federal Direct Stafford Student Loans, Federal Direct PLUS Loans for parents, CCC Grant, CCC Retention Grant, Comet Promise Grant, and CCC Scholarships. To apply for these types of Financial Aid, students are required to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is located online at https://studentaid.ed.gov. CCC also certifies Veterans Educational benefits for Veterans and their eligible dependents.  CCC has numerous scholarships available. CCC Foundation Scholarship applications are usually accepted for the following academic year from late December to the end of February. Depending on the organization providing the scholarship, applications are reviewed based on financial need, academic achievement, and/or community involvement. Federal Work Study

Federal Work Study (FWS) is an exciting opportunity available to students who have financial need as determined by the FAFSA. FWS jobs are listed on our website. Students interested in FWS must complete the FAFSA at https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa and complete an application for employment online at https://www.coconino.edu/types-of-aid/federal-work-study. The Office of Student Financial Aid will then determine the student’s eligibility for FWS. CCC offices and community service agencies will review applications and contact students directly for interviews based on the skills and information listed on the application. FWS encourages community service work and work related to the student’s course of study. When completing the FAFSA for the next academic year, students exclude FWS earnings from their earned income. FWS earnings are considered financial aid and are not included in the calculation of EFC or SAI, which can help some students qualify for more need-based financial aid in subsequent years.

Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) at Northern Arizona University

It can be hard trying to figure out the right steps to go to school. The Educational Opportunity Center helps students learn about these steps. The program helps students who want to go to CCC. It can also help students who want to go to school outside of Arizona. The program has information about schools throughout the United States. The program also helps students with admissions and financial aid at CCC. EOC staff are located at the CCC Fourth Street Campus and Lone Tree Campus Student Center.

HS2CCC - HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS

HS2CCC provides students with a head start by allowing them to take college credit courses while still completing their high school education. CCC offers three options for high school students to earn college credit: Dual Enrollment, Concurrent Enrollment, and the Coconino Association for Vocations, Industry and Technology (CAVIAT). Students can transfer general education classes to fulfill lower-division general education requirements for an associate degree. Then, students can transfer the associate degree to a university toward the completion of a bachelor’s degree, or to get ahead in career certification.

DUAL ENROLLMENT PROGRAM 

High school students can earn community college credit for taking specific high school Dual Enrollment courses. High school students not only earn college and high school credit simultaneously, they also save money on college tuition, reduce college completion time, and eliminate duplication of coursework during their first years of college. The Coconino Association for Vocations, Industry and Technology (CAVIAT) has partnered with CCC and Flagstaff Unified School District schools to provide college-level, career and technical programs for high school. The Native American Success Center (NASC) serves as an academic and cultural resources center for Native American and Alaskan Native students attending Coconino Community College. As the NASC, we:

• Provide academic, cultural, social, and transitional support for Native American students
• Offer academic and career advising, tutoring and peer mentoring services
• Connect and refer students to other campus resources
• Develop and promote diversity and inclusion programming in support of indigenous, Native American, American Indian, and/or Alaska Native cultures

Our overall Native American student enrollment averages 650 (20% of overall enrollment) Native students each semester and within a rich cultural diversity of 26+ tribal nations are represented. SOUTHERN NEVADA & NORHTERN ARIZONA LOUIS STOKES ALLIANCE FOR MINORITY PARTICIPATION

The SNNA-LSAMP is a nationally recognized program that supports underrepresented minority student participation in areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. SNNA-LSAMP is a National Science Foundation grant-funded program that provides free services to students that identify as a minority and are interested in, or are working towards, a degree in STEM. CCC students can take advantage of the many benefits of the program from the time they sign up until the time they graduate or transfer.

The LSAMP Program at Coconino Community College and the College of Southern Nevada both partner with Northern Arizona University and the University of Nevada Las Vegas to encourage our students to pursue a higher degree in STEM upon completion of their program with us.

Phi Theta Kappa

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society was founded for community colleges in 1918. Since that time, it has become the largest and one of the most prestigious honor societies in higher education. Nationwide, over $37 million in scholarship opportunities are available to members.

The CCC Beta Gamma Chi chapter recognizes and encourages scholarship by providing the opportunity for the development of leadership and service, an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, lively fellowship for scholars, and stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence. New members are inducted each fall and spring semesters. Requirements for membership include a 3.5 overall GPA in at least 12 (degree level) credit hours earned at CCC.

Provides direct academic support to students outside of the classroom for most courses offered at Coconino Community College. These services are funded by CCC, which means no cost to the individual student. This support is provided in many ways:

• Tutoring Services: In-person and online tutoring support is provided by a team of trained, and motivated tutors who are familiar with the specific course materials.
• Group Tutoring Sessions: Tutors also may conduct group tutoring sessions for a given subject.
• Workshops: Open to all students. Examples of workshops to support CCC students are Study Skills, Time Management, How to Write an Essay, etc. Workshops are offered a few times each semester.
• Study Resources for Use on Site: Include graphing calculators, models for anatomy classes, protractors, compasses, rulers, etc.

Adult Education GED and HSE prep classes are currently offered in Flagstaff, Page, and the Village of Supai. English language classes are offered in Flagstaff. Classes are open to all who are at least 16 years old and lawfully present in the U.S. We also offer virtual and distance learning options for students in rural areas or with other barriers to attending classes.

RESERVE OFFICERS TRAINING CORPS (ROTC)

Through an arrangement with Northern Arizona University (NAU), CCC students in Flagstaff can take freshmen and sophomore-year classes in ROTC. The goal of the ROTC classes is to provide a foundation of military knowledge and skills needed by junior officers in the military. These classes provide Army or Air Force ROTC basic course credit to students intended to enroll in or continue their participation in either Army or Air Force ROTC classes at Northern Arizona University or other universities hosting Army and/or Air Force ROTC programs.
